How Does Breakout & Retest Pro Work?

The indicator follows a structured price action process designed to distinguish a confirmed breakout from a potential trading entry.

Step 1 – Identify Support and Resistance

The indicator automatically detects confirmed swing highs and swing lows.

These swing points become potential support and resistance levels.

Nearby swing levels can be grouped when they fall within the configured ATR-based tolerance.

Step 2 – Confirm the Breakout

A bullish breakout occurs when price closes sufficiently above a tracked resistance level.

A bearish breakout occurs when price closes sufficiently below a tracked support level.

The indicator uses a configurable ATR-based breakout buffer to avoid treating every minor price movement beyond a level as a valid breakout.

Step 3 – Wait for the Retest

After the breakout, the indicator monitors whether price returns to the broken level.

A previously broken resistance level can become a potential support area.

The retest must occur within the configured number of bars.

Step 4 – Confirm the Retest

For a bullish setup, price must return to the retest area and close above the broken level with a bullish candle.

For a bearish setup, price must return to the retest area and close below the broken level with a bearish candle.

Step 5 – Display the Trade Plan

When the setup passes the configured filters and risk conditions, the indicator displays a BUY or SELL label.

It also calculates and plots:

BUY Signal – Bullish Breakout & Retest

A BUY signal can appear when:

1. A confirmed resistance level is broken.
2. Price closes above the breakout threshold.

4. A bullish candle confirms that the retest area has held.
5. The enabled trend and breakout-strength filters are satisfied.
6. The calculated Stop Loss distance remains within the configured maximum.

A turquoise BUY label is displayed on the chart, together with the trade management levels.

SELL Signal – Bearish Breakout & Retest

A SELL signal can appear when:

1. A confirmed support level is broken.
2. Price closes below the breakout threshold.
3. Price returns to the broken support level.
4. A bearish candle confirms that the retest area has held.
5. The enabled filters approve the setup.
6. The trade satisfies the configured Stop Loss requirements.

A violet SELL label identifies the bearish trading setup.

Automatic Stop Loss & Three Take Profit Targets

Every qualifying trade plan includes a calculated Stop Loss and three profit objectives.

Stop Loss

The Stop Loss is placed beyond the retest structure, with an additional ATR-based buffer.

The indicator also supports minimum and maximum Stop Loss distance settings.

TP1 – First Profit Target

The first target is calculated using the selected risk multiple.

TP2 – Second Profit Target

The second target provides an additional projected profit objective.

TP3 – Third Profit Target

Position sizing is an estimate. Traders should verify contract specifications, currency conversion, broker lot rules, and actual execution conditions before placing orders.

Displays up to three pending breakout levels, including:

Strong Breakout Filter

The optional Strong Breaks Only filter requires the breakout candle to demonstrate additional strength.

The code evaluates breakout strength using either a candle body of at least one ATR or volume greater than 1.5 times its 20-bar average.

This feature can help traders apply stricter breakout qualification rules.

ATR-Based Retest Zone

The indicator uses Average True Range to establish a tolerance zone around the broken level.

This allows the retest logic to account for changing market volatility rather than requiring an exact touch of a single price.

The breakout buffer, retest zone, and Stop Loss buffer can all be adjusted.

Closed-Candle Confirmation

The indicator is designed to process breakout, retest, and trade events on confirmed candle closes.

Swing levels are also based on confirmed pivots.
