Trading Engine Overview

ArtQuant Gold uses a controlled multi-module structure. Each internal module can manage its own cycle logic, while the EA applies global protections for exposure, spread, slippage, drawdown, trade direction and active module limits.

The system is designed to reduce unnecessary manual configuration. The user does not need to configure individual indicators, internal strategy parameters or complex technical rules.

For advanced users, the EA includes an Advanced Setup mode, allowing specific modules to be enabled or disabled for testing, optimization or customized operation.

Virtual Trade Protection

ArtQuant Gold uses virtual protection. Take Profit, Stop Loss and Trailing Stop are managed internally by the EA.

Broker-side SL/TP levels are not sent with the orders. This allows the EA to manage its own internal protection logic, but it also means the terminal or VPS must remain active for correct management of open positions.

Trade Management Rules

ArtQuant Gold manages only its own trades. Positions are identified by the EA symbol and its internal Magic Numbers.

• Manual trades are not managed, closed or modified by the EA.
• Trades opened by other Expert Advisors are not managed by ArtQuant Gold.
• The Close EA Trades panel button closes only positions managed by this EA.
• The Max Total Lots setting applies only to ArtQuant Gold positions.
• The Drawdown Protection evaluates only the floating exposure generated by ArtQuant Gold.

Risk and Exposure Controls

ArtQuant Gold includes several protection layers designed to help control trading exposure:

• Auto Risk Level: selects the automatic exposure level.
• Max Total Lots: limits the total open volume generated by the EA.
• Max Active Modules: limits how many modules can have open cycles at the same time.
• Drawdown Protection: can alert, close EA trades and continue, or close EA trades and remove the EA from the chart.
• Trade Direction: allows Buy and Sell, Buy-only or Sell-only operation.
• Spread Filter: blocks new entries when spread conditions are unsuitable.
• Slippage Filter: limits the maximum allowed execution deviation.

News, Friday and Holiday Filters

The EA includes optional filters designed to block new trading cycles during specific market conditions.

• Block new cycles on Fridays.
• Block new cycles on the first Friday of the month.
• Use the MT5/MQL5 Economic Calendar to filter USD news events in live trading.
• Select High-impact or Medium + High-impact USD events.
• Define minutes before and after news events.
• Block new cycles during the configured Christmas/New Year holiday period.

These filters block new cycles only. They do not close existing EA cycles unless a specific close function or protection mode is configured.

Input Parameters

Start Paused
Starts the EA without allowing new cycles. Existing EA cycles, if present, can still be managed.

Show Information Panel
Displays or hides the chart information panel. This option is visual only and does not affect the trading logic.

Lot Mode
Selects the lot calculation method: Automatic Risk, Fixed Lot or Fixed by Balance.

Auto Risk Level
Defines the automatic exposure level, from Very Low to Very High. Higher levels may increase both potential return and floating drawdown.

Fixed Lot Value
Defines the base lot used in Fixed Lot mode and the lot unit used in Fixed by Balance mode.

Balance Step for Fixed/Balance
Defines the account balance step used to calculate volume in Fixed by Balance mode.

Max Total Lots
Limits the total open volume generated by ArtQuant Gold. A value of 0 disables this limit. This setting applies only to this EA’s trades.

Drawdown Protection
Defines the action taken when the configured floating drawdown threshold is reached. Depending on the selected mode, the EA can alert, close its own trades and continue, or close its own trades and remove itself from the chart.

Drawdown Limit
Defines the drawdown threshold used by the protection system. Depending on the selected mode, the value is interpreted as a percentage of account balance or as account currency.

Friday Close Mode
Allows the EA to close its own trades on Friday according to the selected mode and server hour.

Friday Close Hour
Defines the server hour used by the Friday close function.

Magic Number
Defines the base Magic Number used by ArtQuant Gold. The EA derives internal Magic Numbers from this value to manage its modules. Do not change it while the EA has open cycles.

Max Spread for Entries
Prevents new entries when the spread is higher than the configured value. This filter applies only to new entries; existing EA cycles can still be managed.

Max Slippage in Points
Defines the maximum allowed execution deviation in points.

Push Notifications for Closures
Enables mobile push notifications for relevant EA closure events, provided that push notifications are correctly configured in MetaTrader 5.

Setup Profile
Selects the broker setup profile. Profiles are configuration templates, not performance guarantees. Available profiles include IC Markets / Vantage RAW, RoboForex ECN and Fusion Markets Zero.

Trade Direction
Controls whether the EA can open Buy and Sell cycles, Buy-only cycles or Sell-only cycles.

Max Active Modules
Limits how many ArtQuant Gold modules can have open cycles at the same time. A value of 0 disables this limit.

Module 01–12
Available in Advanced Setup mode. These switches allow specific modules to be enabled or disabled. This is intended for advanced users and testing workflows.

Cycle Filters
Optional filters that can block new cycles under specific conditions. They do not close existing EA cycles.

Block New Cycles on Fridays
Prevents the EA from opening new cycles on Fridays.

Block First Friday of Month
Prevents the EA from opening new cycles on the first Friday of the month.

USD MT5 Calendar Filter
Uses the MT5/MQL5 Economic Calendar to filter USD news events in live trading. This filter does not use Excel, CSV or external historical news files, and it is ignored in Strategy Tester and optimization.

USD Event Impact
Selects whether the news filter considers only high-impact USD events or both medium and high-impact USD events.

Minutes Before News / Minutes After News
Defines the time window around USD calendar events during which new EA cycles are blocked.

Holiday Break Filter
Prevents new EA cycles during the configured Christmas/New Year period.

Requirements

Recommended First Setup

• Attach the EA to a Gold / XAUUSD chart.

• Do not change the Magic Number while ArtQuant Gold has open cycles.
